December 7, 2013 at Aquatic Park in San Francisco

Thank you, courageous and generous Brave the Bay SFPD Challenge participants! You proved that despite frigid weather, you’re up for the Challenge, and your efforts resulted in a record-breaking fundraising total! Together we blew right past our $75,000 goal, and because of your support Saturday’s earnings will grant more than 18 local wishes!

We encourage you to:
Check out initial pictures from the day here (more will be posted as we get them!)

Relive your Cable Car Pull glory by checking your team’s time!

Congratulations on taking the Challenge – our (Santa) hats go off to you!

P.S. Should you or your loved ones wish to make an additional donation, this website will remain open through December 31st.

Brave the Bay is an active, festive holiday-themed event perfect for San Franciscans of any age! You choose the athletic event that most appeals to you – or participate in all three in this year’s new “Santa Triathlon!” Choose from these three athletic feats, all of which will take place in and around Aquatic Park:

Santa Walk and Fun Run: 8:30am
$25 per person

(Fee for wish children and families is waived)
It’s a festive, family-friendly 5k walk and fun-run – holiday attire encouraged! Participants will take to the streets of San Francisco to get some exercise in support of wishes! This is a certified course, but no official timing is provided. Registration opens at 7:30am.

Santa Plunge in the Bay: 10:30am
$25 per person

Find out just exactly how cold the San Francisco Bay is! Whether you take the slow and steady wade-in approach or get it over with quickly by jumping in, your supporters and spectators will be impressed by your fortitude. Towels, hot drinks and showers are provided. Participants are encouraged to reach out to family, friends and colleagues to support their Plunge, and in turn can earn awesome Make-A-Wish fundraising incentive prizes!

Are you a senior or C-level manager? Learn more about how to take the Executive Challenge to Plunge in the Bay!

Santa Cable Car Pull: 11:00am-1:00pm
$150 per team of six

If you really want to prove yourself, put your strength to the test against the SFPD in the Santa Pull beginning at 11am. Gather a team of six to participate! You’ll be paired against another team to see who can pull a cable car the fastest over a distance of 200 feet. Participants are encouraged to reach out to family, friends and colleagues to support their Pull, and in turn can earn awesome Make-A-Wish fundraising incentive prizes!

Santa Triathlon: 8:30-1:00pm
$60 per person

Want to take part in all three? Register for the fun and festive Santa Triathlon at a discounted rate of $60, and walk, plunge and pull your way to glory! All Triathlon participants receive a commemorative medal celebrating their success!

Cops & Coffee: 9:00am-3:00pm
Not feeling sporty? Enjoy the day’s athletic events from the sidelines, then head to the Buena Vista Café (featuring world-famous Irish coffee and so much more!) for a relaxing meal as part of the Cops & Coffee Program from 9am-3pm. Your server will be assisted by one of San Francisco’s finest – a wonderful SFPD officer working hard that day to make sure your meal arrives hot…and accepting your generous tip – 100% of which benefits Make-A-Wish!

The Goal: This year’s goal is to grant 357 wishes in the Bay Area – and we hope that 10 of them will be made possible through Brave the Bay. Our average wish cost is $7,500 – and with your help we’ll raise $75,000 by December 7th, making wish magic come true for 10 local children!
